By the time anyone calls, the symptom is "it's not cooling and it never stops running" — which sounds like a compressor and isn't.
Condenser coils clog with dust and pet hair. The refrigerator can't shed heat, so the compressor runs longer and longer. Cooling gets steadily worse, energy consumption climbs, and the compressor lives its life at full duty instead of cycling.
A door seal hardens and stops gripping. Warm, humid air leaks in continuously. Frost forms, the unit runs constantly, and the compressor never gets a rest — while the fridge appears to work perfectly.
The defrost drain blocks. Water from each defrost cycle has nowhere to go, so it refreezes at the bottom of the freezer or escapes onto your floor — and in an integrated unit, into the cabinetry beneath it.
The pattern is the same every time. A cheap component fails, the appliance compensates, and the compensation is what does the damage.
